Snow, snow and more snow!

Ok, I know I'm this post actually doesn't belong in this blog, since I live in Düsseldorf and didn't travel anywhere, but, since my return from South Africa, it has been snowing on and off and has transformed Düsseldorf in a winter wonderland.  In the 3 years that I've lived here, it hasn't snowed as much as this year, and that is why I feel as if I've moved to another city.  I am sure that my colleagues at work see my enthusiasm about snow as a sign of insanity, but hey, I'm South African, I'm allowed to go crazy about snow!

My first encounter with snow, was on the day I arrived back from South Africa.  All the time I was visiting my family, I followed the European weather reports and was glad when I returned and saw the last rests of snow.  These photos are of a field not very far from where I live.  I often go for a walk there, but it was a whole new experience to see the field covered in snow.

This morning, I took a long walk along the Rhine river.  I probably spent half an hour sitting on the shore, watching ships pass by, soaking in the few weak rays of sun that occasionally peeked through the clouds, and listening to the water lapping against the rocks.  Every now and then, I could hear people walking with their dogs pass behind me, but most of the time it was absolutely peaceful.

By the time I got up to leave, my feet, hands and nose were frozen solid, but luckily, there's always a hot cup of tea waiting at home!
